This young couple with two children has just moved into a 1960s house in Neuilly Plaisance in the Paris region.
The land is occupied by several constructions; a garage in the middle of parcel, an utility room and the principal building of dwelling implanted perpendicularly with the street. The house is very shallow and develops mainly in height (4 levels).
Customers want to expand the space on the ground floor where they feel cramped by integrating all living rooms such as living room, dining room, kitchen and sanitary.
The challenge for the architect was to create a more generous volumetry while remaining in the extension of the pinion imposed by the PLU.
The project is treated as an inhabited pontoon in the continuity of the existing ground floor. This pontoon is composed of a covered part in the extension of the facade and an outer part overlooking the natural terrain. This composition allows to extend the space of the living room on the terrace during the beautiful days via a large bay window that slides.
