Bimbache Bungalow
Summer house for a guanche princess , member of the royalty of the aboriginal Bimbache People from El Hierro Island in Macaronesia
The brief is simple : a summer house for a royal princess of the bimbache aboriginal people in the island of Esero, known as El Hierro in the colonial spanish language.
The princess Guarazoca wish to feel the spiritual connection with its own aboriginal roots and traditions ( the cave, the pintadera, the geometric cosmovision)
The house, mostly open to enjoy the divine climate of the Canary Islands propose non-diferentiated spaces that can be used for spontaneous , diverse activities such as preparing the gofio on the mill, making traditional pottery or checking the horizon to acknowledge the arrival of the spanish invaders.
The heart of the house is an altar devoted to Moneiba, the female goddess of the bimbache people, protector of the family and the community.
The welcoming presence of doors and windows all over the perimeter invites all the members of the community to gather at nights to sing misterious canarii songs and practice their petrogliphic writing.
