f53 transforms the ritual of cooking. The limits of the kitchen are diluted and are now defined by a piece of furniture that places the ‘hearth’ once again at the center of the house, generating a space which encourages meeting and exchange, creating experiences that allow the user to fully recover their senses.
The GOURMET COUNTER redefines the kitchen table, improving its performance and transforming it into a furniture system with integrated work areas. Each area has a different function that the user can configure according to their needs – including a water zone, fire zone, preparation zone and kitchen garden.
The PANTRY in the interior incorporates the uses of the old, traditional cupboards and pantries, re-interpreted through its function, materials and structural features. A configurable system that promotes an honest link with food and the way it is stored.
The development of the product, from the initial ideas through to its realization, is the result of multiple complex layers of information that turns it into an object of great formal simplicity: the system, Symbolic values and Tectonics and production.
Layer 1 _ The system
The system, understood as an operational framework, constitutes a project guide and an instrument to be used during the production process. At the same time, it is the best tool for the user to configure a wide variety of possibilities, allowing them to meet their needs and adapt the project to the particular characteristics of their space.
The system, as a set of linked units and components, is an answer to uncertainty; it works as a support that promotes dynamic and flexible environments for change, capable of evolving together with the needs of those who use them.
Layer 2 _ Symbolic values
The home is, by definition, the space in which the individual lives and to which it brings an emotional dimension that transcends the material condition of the dwelling; It is also the place where fire is made, the core of cooking activities.
The kitchen table, by which this room was defined, determined the central space of production until the consolidation of the modern floor during the first half of the 20th century.
The archetypal table - a plank placed on two trestles – conjures up the idea of a dynamic, variable and improvised installation for meetings and get-togethers. The trestle table is one of the most common associations that we have about celebrations in our collective imagination, an image perpetuated since the late 1400s in the Santa Maria delle Grazie Convent.
The pantry constitutes a large piece of wood that reveals the spirit of old pantries and cupboards within; the storeroom re-interpreted as a system. It proposes an honest link with food and the way it is gathered and stored.
These highly symbolic references are reinterpreted from the point of view of the 21st century.
Layer 3 _ Tectonics and production
The careful selection of the materials that make up the product is, without a doubt, one of its most outstanding qualities. f53 was developed as a system to be easily transported and assembled in the place of its installation.
The wood is selected oak and for the countertops that are required to be water and fire resistant, a surface of TSP is used. The structure is made of galvanized steel finished with powder-coating paint.
