Music School and Public Library
The purpose of the project is twofold. On the one hand, it seeks to recover the original pavilions by means of a rigorous rehabilitation of them, understood as an architectural container.
On the other hand, we choose to act with greater freedom, the back for the receiver, uses that have no place in the primitive, where the existing building lacks of interest.
The corral wall is used as the union of two interventions so different at the beginning.
The proposed solution consist of bodies with sloping roofs whose walls are granite and brick with large windows in the front contrasting with a cubic volume emerging at the bottom with very different characteristics.
The latter absorbs the library. Its facade of stone material is composed of large prefabricated pieces. This element that rises in the foot of Abantos, gives the building a unique character typical of public buildings.
The project also incorporates four large skylights in order to provide interior light and ventilation. These have also been treated externally with the same prefabricated ones.
