Petit Palais
The existing hotel with 22 rooms in a Wilhelminian style mansion is extended to a total of 62 rooms. The extension of the hotel emphasizes the building line along Friedberger Landstraße, which had become blurred by the contemporary construction of commercial buildings.
The unifying composition of the existing and the new building is based on the mirror symmetric repetition of the old decoration facade along the main road. Existing floor heights and roof shape are respected.
The extension continues the historic facade and terminates in a second, ornamented gable. In this part, the variety of decorations is reduced and the modern interpretation of the north facade is introduced.
In the consecutive north, west and courtyard facades, french windows repeat the proportions of the high windows in the historic part. The roof pitch of 45 degrees ist repeated as well. Technical equipment which needs to be placed in the exterior is situated in a recess in the flat roof.
