Embassy of Switzerland
The new Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing is thought of as a representative incubator of the Swiss multiculturalism.
The program is divided into two parts: the administration and the representative offices. These two volumes rest ideologically on a wall, the image of the border delimits two territo- ries; the public and the private. The two buildings redefine the boundaries of the garden, they are no longer subordinated but become actors of the park. The diplomatic missions and the consular section are located in the main building south-west of the parcel. It is designed on the structural scale, it must be able to mutate according to the needs and programmatic changes. The floors are open, common and organized in a coherent way. Stairs, ramps and lifts are placed to promote exchanges and stimulate conversations. Imagine one of the many receptions evoking the idea of the Chinese garden where the pagoda subtly embraces the reflection of water. The two new buildings disappear little by little by the pond strewn with ma- gnolias and weeping willows.
