FQ DENTAL CLINIC
"It always must start with a white space, whether a clean sheet of paper or a canvas, it has to be white"
We use the word white, but the definition could be nothing or even the opposite everything. For some, black signifies the absence of light, but white signifies the absence of: ideas, words even memory.
Design for all of man’s needs starts from the "rationality of nothingness", the "Boutique Dentaire" (dental clinic) project was no exception. The original space represented an abstraction of lines forming a basis on which to create a further abstraction, the interior architecture.
The interior reflects aspects of purity, order, enchantment: using the space for essential functions, fully using natural light available from outside, making glass surfaces reflect this natural light like crystal which is set in a cement mass. True minimalism in which natural resources and carefully designed and selected objects enhance the experience of fully utilised space.
The interior environments follow each other in an organic order and each space is arranged to allow functionality in the most natural way, putting the user at ease.
The entrance dominates the reception area and is wedged between three walls, creating an origami effect which plasticizes the whole dedicated waiting area. This ethereal environment is dominated by custom-made seats that give a pixel effect with each different density of colour creating a coordinated, larger density.
Then, at the centre of everything, using an anatomical metaphor, the brain, heart and lungs - all the technology necessary for the functioning of each individual area, the training areas and all the service areas.
There is an all-around regular rhythm amongst the individual units which are wedged inside transparent spaces allowing light into the main corridor, at the same time emphasizing the strength and fragility of a white minimal shell where the white, the light and the few carefully chosen objects compliment and contrast to create the vibrant whole.
