CONCEPT
This PPS project has the ambition to strengthen the village center of Oostmalle in a high-quality way. In the first place, the focus was on the public facilities that benefit community life, the community centre "de Notelaar" was extended and renewed, including a new library with meeting rooms for associations, a few commercial spaces and a new childcare and youth center. All this grouped around squares and parks, in one large open green space.
Secondly, homes were designed for various family combinations (social housing, affordable housing, small and large apartments, group practice for doctors, apartments for less mobile people, ...).
Attention has been paid to the accessibility of the entire site, the new building merges seamlessly into its environment. The existing image-defining buildings, like the old school building and a park garden, are integrated into the design. It has become a place of sports and games, for young and old, creating a community space in which you feel at home.
