Astorga Loft
The renovation consists in an apartment developed on 3 floors completely open and with a view to the mountains that surround the city of Medellin.
This apartment is located on the last 3 floors of a building of the 90s which has a development of 17 total levels. All the housing units are designed as duplexes, with a double height space and totally open lofts spaces. Occupying the last two floors, this apartment also develops on the terrace of the building, where there is a garden with tropical plants, a jacuzzi and a canopie with metal structure and polarized glass to protect from the incidence of the sunlight.
The main bathroom was completely reformed, integrating the closet in a single space, separated from the main room by a sliding glass system with opalized glass to allow a good natural lighting to the bathroom and the studio.
This sliding glass system on the second floor that permit to change the space of the study according with the necessity of the people. Its can be closed and become room for guests or totally opened and integrated with the main bedroom and the double height.
The kitchen is completely open to allow the social integration of living and dining room and consists of a wall cabinet with ample storage capacity, and an island with structure in mdf (medium density fibre board), black granite countertop and doors and coatings in oak wood with push type opening system. The fridge and all the other appliances like microwave, toaster and oven are hidden behind the oak doors so that the design of the kitchen stays clean, almost sculptural.
The functional island has the possibility of becoming a library towards the dining room by means of wooden shelves that double its functionality and become a furnishing object inside the space.
The sink was designed as the kitchen, for general integrity and unity in space, as well as the library on the first floor where the drawers and wooden shelves are fixed to a black metal structure.
The project interested also the interior design and furniture to get a better unity and coherence that were designed and produced also the lamps, tables and stools, the leather sofa for the living room, the structure of the main bed and the bookcases.
