quattroquarti is the union of four modules that host the functions required for the realization of a food point. Each of them is thought to be autonomous in structure and form as well as in function. In the meeting of four elements the compositional idea is created. The modules are held together by the union of the vertical structures. This union creates a cross, the hub of the settlement, which holds together and at the same time divides the elements in order to maintain their own autonomy.
The regeneration of the space inside the quarry is therefore entrusted to the positioning of the four-quarters base: their regularity generates spaces and scenarios each time different.
quatttroquarti does not have vertical perimeter closures and allows the visitor a complete usability of space by placing it in continuous connection with the outside. The different openings allow the user of the quarry to reach visual goals that link him to the others.
The wood has been chosen as a building material: a natural material that leaves the pristine essence of the site. The transverse axes maintain the wooden structure but offer a yellow ocher painting to emphasize the crucial role of the cross in the settlement, a cross that, like a magnet, holds all the proposed modules together. Once again, a flat cover divided into modules, is limited to the upper four quarters keeping the components together.
quattroquarti is a mobile system: the bases provide wheels that allow mobility within the site. Each element that makes up the structural system is designed to be easily assembled. From the base to the roof, all the elements meet the self-construction criteria. _quattroquarti_i is the result of the assembly of small elements: the OSB panels, the uprights, and the claddings are held together by reversible joints.
