Art Cittadella
The existing structure has undergone several changes over time. The volume has been fragmented with numerous additions over the years.
However, a characteristic prominence is still visible and the fortress dominates the Island from the top of the hill.
The remains of the old boundary wall were essential for the development of the project.
This element becomes a dominant sign, defining a new volume and a well-defined path which is destined to welcome a multiplicity of users in the different periods of the year.
The structure is designed for an artistic audience, and aims to be an incubator oasis where art and everyday life coexist. Active users’ participation is the goal to achieve. The spectator becomes an artist and the artist becomes a spectator.
The complex is designed to be usable throughout the year. Several universities will be involved and workshops will be held by artists for students and many other users. Indeed, the complex is designed as a Residence/Laboratory/Museum and open to a wide public.
The volume is divided into four blocks.
Three of them host different types of accommodation: Single, double and quadruple rooms.
The fourth is a place of relaxation, aggregation and brainstorming for users.
Above the residences there are four terraces with different character where users can work and exhibit their art crafts.
The four terraces are connected to the main path, generated from the old boundary walls. It goes all around the fortress, allowing the user to enjoy the nature and the view.
