B.Konyushennaya apartment renovation
Two storied apartment in the historical centre of Saint-Petersburg.
The place was erected in 1843 as a part of Pushin’s palace complex and used to be a tenement house. In 1980-s all bearing structures were rebuild. Only the facade wall with tall romanesque windows and rich brickwork were preserved.
The main goal was to preserve such benefits of the place as large-scaled volume and historical spots and to create cozy space for living and working as well.
We aimed to design an open spaced apartment with strictly determined zones. For that reason we restored the main enfilade with a picturesque green boulevard view and added tall double handed door to separate private area. The second level with home office and library was constructed in daytime zone.
To highlight the historical aspect we decided to preserve rich and colorful brickwork. On the contrary most of wall surfaces and construction elements were painted with neutral colours. These off-white shades brought out the spatial structure and created background for such accents as pieces of art, furniture and decoration details.
