Farmacia en Estepona
The main idea of the project is to break the huge initial space into smaller spaces. To adapt the heights to the appropriate scale of the different uses. To transmit different sensations to the user: to strengthen the sense of space and to focus on the transition between public and private, between the street and the direct contact with the pharmacist, while paying attention to the exhibitors along this course.
The space is divided in two levels with a “L” shaped mezzanine that revolves around the entrance area and welcomes visitors; this mezzanine defines the auxiliary spaces. The sequence projected goes from public, the street, to a semi-public atrium, and finally to the most private and intimate area where the encounter between customer and pharmacist is possible. This intermediate atrium is the space used for standing, walking and looking at the products on display before customers are assisted directly by the pharmacist.
This atrium is defined as a white space, illuminated from both the front and the top through vertical slats around the mezzanine. The other surfaces are grey, used to define the inferior working level. Only these two colours are distributed on few materials: marble on the floor, laminated boards in exhibitors, lacquered wood slats, and fiber cement panels in the remaining walls.
On the outside, the corner is highlighted with small squares perforated in different sizes while being strategically placed looking for an equilibrated composition both indoor and outdoor, to focus the sights on the main window.
