Casa Refugio
This project seeks to be a private and intimate space for a family of five. The program is divided into two levels, the public, semi-public and services area on the ground floor and upstairs the private areas.
Located in the center of the site, the social area consisting of living and dining develops parallel to the back yard and the terrace. The house opens completely to the views of the garden, remaining hidden and hermetic towards the road.
The interior space delimited by sliding wooden walls allows to integrate the rooms in different configurations according to the use and privacy required. The living room and dining room can be integrated into a single space with the kitchen, which in turn can be integrated with the TV room. The TV room is configured as a transparent volume that interacts with the terrace and the garden.
Preceding the social area, as part of the façade takes place the volume of services, which configured as a monolithic element, serves as the first filter or barrier, increasing the sense of privacy both the street to the house and the house to the Street.
The upper floor houses the rooms in the periphery, emphasizing the views towards the outside, they all convey in a family stay.
The house, materializes like a bunker in ground floor, with solid stone walls of the region, looking almost impermeable from the street; in contrary, the back wall is completely outside through large windows.
The upper volume is configured through a light metal armor, which contains the modular walls and spans. The material palette is configured from local stone ground floor and flattened chukum, an ancestral finish our state.
