WATER PAVILION
“Water is the driving force of all nature”
Leonardo Da Vinci
Water phenomena are the staring point for this proposal. By using space, we want to incentivize allude and encourage the memory of what water will always be: a source of life. The ways in which the proposal want to strengthen the link between the human beings and this essential source is through six phenomena that are inherent in water: sound, reflection, humidity, texture, movement and its capacity to create life.
The proposal suggests a space isolated from its urban context, contained by a double skin façade that holds a semispherical sculptural element, that works as a catalytic for the aspects of water. In his exterior façade, and in the same way water would take the shape of its container, the pavilion answer to the hard, aggressive lines by adapting to the urban trace, on the other hand, in its interior a perimetric circulation of interlaced stairs hug the space that function as a water observatory.
The semispherical element crates, from the movement of water, a point of tension in its gravity center that will gradually flood the observatory. The constant sound of a thread of water, the light reflection that paint the space, the humidity of the contained space, the interaction with water, will culminate in atmospheres where the growth of vegetal life will be propitiated.
The pavilion is experimented through an underground entrance, that contributes to the visual and sound insolation from the urban context, bringing the user into an ambiance of solace and quietness, where the water does not only represent the vital liquid, but it’s also the manifestation of life itself.
