Located within the boundaries of the Roma Sur neighborhood, close to the Del Valle neighborhood, the project was concieved thinking outside of the box from the existing housing supply in both neighborhoods - vertical housing developments consisting of four to six levels.
On the contrary, this housing prototype consists of urban townhouses of three and four levels, resembling the original buildings of the neighborhood.
The five resulting townhouses are articulated by a side patio facing south, allowing natural lighting for the interior houses, which replicate in a serial way to preserve the vertical dividing block that generates privacy between them.
The eyes of stairs work as extraction ducts, allowing for natural ventilation, and directing the hot air to the upper level of each townhouse.
Facing the street, a three level townhouse appropiates the facade, aligning with the adjoining neighbors, and coexisting with the trees that where preserved to filter the view.
A set of flared vanes of different sizes and positions draws a vertical sequence of solids and voids, folds and deployments in which shadows and changing reflections are projected, creating, along with the gate and the recessing that allows the access to the interior townhouses, the bulding facade facing east, giving the impression of a single dwelling, thereby strengthening the concept of single-family housing.
