DWC HOUSE
The brief for this project was to design a contemporary home with an adjacent practitioner’s space. The professional and private part had to be connected – both physically and visually – while full guaranteeing privacy. As a result, we proposed a house that’s centred around an outdoor patio. Multiple visual axes connect and separate the spaces.
We introduced two volumes, a lower one facing the street and a main volume that opens to the large garden. These volumes provide playful interactions and perspectives, while they remain monumental brick blocks, connected by two fully glass entrances. The lower volume contains a practitioners space and a garage. The main volume contains the main living spaces and the ground floor has been designed as an open plane organised around a stairway and a kitchen element. The upper level is organised around a central multifunctional night area and provides four bedrooms that all have a framed view to the garden.
The house utilises modern techniques for ventilation and heating to ensure cost-efficiency and meet with today’s standards of low-energy housing.
