LIMEN
Concurso Arquine No.20 | Pabellón MEXTRÓPOLI 2018

LIMEN is a game, an object in transformation. At the beginning it has the shape of an equilateral pyramid of 1,70m of side; it has the color of gold to attract everyone but then when you open it...
The use of building temples on a stepped base dates back to the ancient cult of the high ground. While in the older continent the sky was like a 'vault', for the Mexican people it represented a mountain through which the sun rose in the morning and fell in the evening. An object in transformation to cross, through proximity and presence, that is a distance, apparently impassable, that separated the day from the night, the self from the other.
... we were saying: when you open it, it becomes an American pyramid and if you look better inside you will find a quadrangular folding cover of 2.6m side and maximum height 3.1m. The cover runs and if you want you can have fun spinning it.
Līmen is not a pavilion but has the task of setting up social relations and networks, stimulating new schemes to re-imagine urban space as a constantly evolving playground. The "playing space" has the potential to create a social and cultural transformation, to become a frontier, when the identities that participate in it are open and their boundaries are flexible.
Līmen inside contains a rainwater collection tank of about 150 lt, operated, if you turn the cover, by a mechanism that waters the 2.5 square meters of ground present. This is another game you can do: turn the water and the ground into food! You can play it in the city and have fun but in exceptional cases it could be useful for the sustenance of your family.
