Sports Hall of Adolf-Weber High School

The new building, consisting of a one-court and a three-court sports hall, fits well into the neighbourhood’s heterogeneous building fabric due to its reduced language of form.

Like the sports hall from 1965, which it substitutes, the new construction is lower than the adjacent buildings. However, unlike its predecessor, it forms an autonomous equivalent which neither associates formally with the school building’s design nor physically connects to it.

The homogeneous volume of the roof’s frame hovers above the glazed ground floor offering a visual connection from the public space into the school yard.
