Dom Viçoso House
Dom Viçoso House is located at the end of a plateau surrounded by hills in the rugged landscape of the Serra da Mantiqueira, in Minas Gerais.
A stone and concrete wall defines the edges of the plateau. The site layout organizes its occupation, assuring a sheltered garden on one side and the outspread of an ocean of hills on the other.
The house is separated into two separate volumes with different functions: living, dining and kitchen in the first volume and bedrooms in the second one.
The volumes are aligned and placed along a longitudinal axis, connected by a glass corridor. This articulation is further enhanced by subtleties: at the same time it connects and creates a distance between the intimate and social spaces. In the same manner, the two blocks reach out to the patio through the porch and the veranda, revealing themselves in a distinct way to the garden.
