my treehouse
I designed and built this treehouse over the span of 3 summers next to my master studies in Architecture. It finally also tunred into my Diploma Thesis mentored by Peter Fattinger at TU Wien. The Treehouse is located in Salzburg, Austria next to the house of my parents where I grew up.
The project is the result of a three-year-long dealing with handcraft, construction, different materials and space. Starting point was a the studio-design of a treelike structure for a school extension in Vienna. Motivated by the idea of actually implementing and thereby verifying this contruction, I started to build a section of it in a 1:1 scale.
In this process I acted in a way that seemed familiar and natural to me. The liberty of not having to know the exact outcome, of still making decision during the building process, of allowing mistake to occur and learning from them considerably blurred the usual separation of planning and building. The process is shown in the following video and on: nocker2000.tumblr.com
