New Cosin's showroom on Sevilla street, in Valencia
On Sevilla Street, located in the emblematic district of Ruzafa, the studio of Pepe Cosín has prepared a new space to locate his new showroom dedicated to contemporary furniture.
The place occupies the whole lot of the building, plus the entire surface under a large terrace of apples typical of the buildings of the Valencian district in which it is located.
It is a place with two accesses on both sides of the staircase patio, with a total width of 10.50 meters and a depth of 45 m, with the only contribution of natural light from two small skylights, one in the middle of the premises and another almost at the end of it.
The premises will be a contemporary furniture showroom, with the implicit needs in this business: exhibition, customer service, work area, catalog warehouse and samples. Because it is so long, it was divided into three functional areas. A first volume is set back from the façade, creating two spaces at the entrance, with a function as a hall and showcase. This first piece is characterized by its symmetry and homogeneity.
The next area, intermediate, sheds all coating, treating it almost as an outer space. This is helped by the amount of natural overhead light that enters all day through the translucent skylight, and the remains of an existing graffiti. The look of this area also forces to leave the metallic structure of thin pillars and revolts in sight.
The third zone, is organized around a small interior courtyard glazed. The work area is supported by a maple double-sided bookcase, which also includes access to the bathrooms and storage. In the background is the large kitchen to receive and organize events around the table. Both the furniture and the granite bench, were made in very dark gray, to get a monolithic aspect module that would disguise its function. Three perfectly delimited spaces are organized, unified by the material of the pavement (concrete throughout the premises) and by the white color in various tones on different surfaces. And in turn, through the use of mirror cloths, you can create a game of endless space.
