DRY VITTORIO VENETO
The project enhances the dual exposure of the location and the light of the thirteen windows open on the historic facade. The new DRY faces the famous Casa della Fontana (House of the Fountain) - one of the iconic buildings of Milan in the 1930s - bordering the gardens of via Palestro.
Designed by VUDAFIERI-SAVERINO Partners, DRY is an iconic example of how to reinterpret in a modern style the heritage of historic buildings.
The interior strikes, first of all, by their peculiar atmosphere.
The entrance is occupied by an impressive cocktail station where the mise en place is located, organized in three atolls and surrounded by common tables. The second room, however, is dedicated to the restaurant-pizzeria.
The decor mixes the period style elements of the building (an old newspaper distribution company founded at the beginning of the twentieth century), with other more modern, for a much bolder and more contemporary layout.
The wooden floor contrasts with the historical walls, left in part rough. This contrast accentuates the look of modern loft made from a former industrial space.
Brass, the iconic element of DryMilano, features most of the furnishing finishes such as large tables and lights. Second life chandeliers are built by screwing old bulb lamps, with recessed incandescent bulbs, or, still, twisting bright garden garlands around simple bars.
Extra Dry - the contemporary video installation program curated by Paola Clerico / Case Chiuse - contributes to reinforcing the urban ambience of the room and opens to the city through projections, on two of the showcases, which will also be visible to the outside .
