The challenge of the clients brief was to design a space with a distinct/strong/ identity for the brand, that as the same time offers a welcoming atmosphere that all type of clients can feel comfortable in. The brief expressed a positive ambiguity between a straightforward canteen and a chic restaurant, where the quality products and ingredients must be highlighted.
This is reflected in September’s choice of an overall white and discreet design. The neutrality of the architecture makes it possible to erase the space in favor of the expressiveness of materials and textures to highlight the pizza and its ingredients. The monolithic counter, in green zellige tiles, stands out and extends the color of the trees along this section of the Canal St Martin and articulates both the inside and the outside. The tables, a daily and familiar picnic furniture, are deliberately diverted with a layer of translucent epoxy resin subtly revealing the wood.
The commercial sign is a gesture as pure and raw as a stroke of black paint on an undulated surface, and the deformed lettering, creates a kinetic effect from the street, As you approach the pizzeria.
