Litospheres
During 2011 MARMOMACC in Verona, Pibamarmi embraces its experimental attitude presenting a new exhibit installation by Snøhetta.
Big sectioned and dug stone blocks, porous diaphragms permeable to sight, smooth and slightly incoherent floorings: these are the elements welcoming the visitors in a space that explores the antipodes of the lithosphere, an always more and more interesting concept for contemporary design. These material and formal themes are developed by Snøhetta in the exhibit concept for Pibamarmi pavilion at 2011 Marmomacc. According to Kjetil Thorsen, founder associate of the studio in Oslo, stone must show the versatile and multipurpose identity within its “genetic code”: beyond the conventional ideas spread in common opinion, stone material can multiply images and sensations of smoothness and lightness that are immediately evident and evocative in the contrasts of sizes and depths.
