Tallinn Waterfront Masterplan
AZPML proposal for the Tallinn waterfront is aimed at the re-establishment of the relationship between Tallinn and its waterfront. Tallin’s Port is not only the major landowner in this operation, but also one of the most important economic engines of the city.
The reconnection between the Port and the City is a crucial for the future of Tallinn as an emerging Northern European city, but also as one of the main Baltic ports.
To ensure that the passenger traffic can co-exist seamlessly with the urban functions of the new urban fabric which will develop in the former harbour land is the main purpose of the masterplan.
Without exaggeration, we believe that the restructuring of the relationship between Tallinn and its Port is the single most important opportunity that Tallinn City will have in the next century, and its success will have an enormous impact on the future of the city, not only as a reserve of urban land for the growth of the city, and an economic engine, but also as a key element of the identity of Tallinn.
