Karlstrasse München
This six-story office building stands on a triangular lot in Munich’s central Maxvorstadt area. Independent yet integrative, it is a solitaire that fits flawlessly into its surroundings, echoing the unusual shape of the lot in a singular structure whose three facades are fluidly joined by rounded corners. Two important sight lines – one running northwest from the center, the other northeast – are reinforced by the new building. Light-colored stucco and big windows that wrap around the building’s curves make for an elegant and striking facade. The ground floor offers a large open space with direct street access for retail or restaurant use. The structure is clearly divided into core and shell, allowing the office spaces on the upper floors to be freely subdivided.
