Verso il Mediterraneo
The need to reconstruct a path, a slow visual description proceeding along the highway that leads from Salerno to Reggio Calabria, with some of its branches, has pushed the exhibition design to interpret the sequence of rooms on the first level of Palazzo Poli, just behind the Trevi Fountain, as a portion of the territory, a spatial infrastructure capable of reproducing the relevant extension along the sequence of the three rooms walls. An expansion of the physical space, from meters to kilometers.
This is what led us to produce the exhibition design for "Verso il mediterraneo", curated by Emilia Giorgi and Antonio Ottomanelli. An exhibition of photographs, images, stories. A collective exhibition, which consisted of different photographic campaigns, made by different authors, but with the indispensable aim of building a single narrative.
Finally, the heterogeneity of the authors, the different sensitivities, the various investigations carried out, pushed the project into a further step. The need to occupy different surfaces, not simply the vertical surfaces of the walls, but also the horizontal ones, the tables and objects ready to occupy the empty central space of the museum’s rooms and the pavement itself.
Thus, frames, tables, benches, books, chassis, planes, have occupied the spaces of the museum by means of thin structures, defining limits and possibilities of the narration of a story made of people, things, places, victories and defeats of our country.
