La Juliana
In a space of a quite narrow front, 8,77m from side to side, we project an apartment building in calle Monjitas, in the very heart of Bellas Artes area in central Santiago.
Our aim has been that all apartments had cross-ventilation, having the possibility of opening both in north (living) and south façade (bedroom). We have tried to take advantage of this double orientation by conceiving it as a continuous space articulated by a big wall cabinet unit in the dividing wall. This cabinet is adapted to the space it serves, from the living to the kitchen, from the kitchen to the bathroom and from the bathroom to the bedroom.
In the central area of each apartment there is a big patio that gives natural light to the flat. This patio allows the apartment to overlook an inner common space, aiming at an interior communication within the residents.
The main street openings of these apartments are designed to direct the look of the resident to the profoundity and activity of an important strees as Monjitas, that connects hot points of the city such as Lastarria and Plaza de Armas.
