Nueva Vida
Context
Surrounded by numerous legends, San Millán is one of the most famous historical neighborhoods in the city of Segovia.
Embraced by the river Clamores, it began as a prosperous area of orchards,
inhabited mainly by Muslims and Jews, who left in the neighborhood multitude of manifestations of its rich culture,
both in the architectural style, as in the symbology and the community.
The tile industry also has extensive development in the area before beginning its urban development.
One of the most characteristic points of San Millán is its halo of mystery and magic, enlivened by the famous crimes committed there and by the work of the master painter Zuloaga, who represented the famous piece "Las Brujas de San Millán".
The design
In the past, San Millán was a fundamentally farmer's neighborhood.
Its orchards served the nobles and the rich ones of the upper part of Segovia.
Its neighbors tell us how the green aspect of the neighborhood was turning into gray as blocks were built.
We were also told about the importance of the weaving industry.
With this proposal we intend, in a symbolic way, to give back to San Millán part of its history.
Count through shapes and colors the San Millán of yesteryear.
Everything is born in the pyramid. The Sun the in the peak, as it does in the sky.
The waters of the river Clamores, run again on the surface, spilling into the square and once again the heart of the neighborhood.
Around the river, with a tile red color, we want to represent the houses and industries, all of it surrounded by vegetal shapes in different shades of green.
Natural paths that bring back to the square the green that San Millan one day had.
