Context

The "south pole" of the Geneva’s agglomeration opens onto the great landscape: the Praille basin and the Lake Geneva basin on one side, Grand Salève on the other, and finally the Jura and Vuache range.
Facing Lancy, the challenge of the project is to propose an elegant termination of the existing modernist urban fabric.
Facing the road of Saint-Julien, the project proposes a first plant plan conjugated to a sudden urbanity effect to mark the entrance of the city.
Facing the plateau of the Praille stands a strong and radiant form.

Urban form

Two independent and complementary interventions are installed on both sides of the Saint-Julien road.
In the north, a set of pentagonal vertical "pieces" is free from the geometry of the Saint Julien road to complete a neighborhood of large-scale residential buildings and measure up to the great landscape.
In the center, a low and long construction protects the northern sector from the nuisances of the road.
In the south, an orthogonal complex ends the alignment built on the road by offering a front to the multimodal place of Bachet-de-Pesay. Its articulated form is capable of reacting precisely to a context not yet fully defined.
The road to St-Julien is considered as a wide urban boulevard bordered on both sides by alignments of large trees.

Project

A low building block along the road, protected from noise according to OPB and accidents according to OPAM.
Three towers of varying heights arranged in recess accommodate most of the dwellings.
Their fan-shaped distribution provides a generous public space and optimal habitability of the dwellings.
Each tower is characterized by a type of interior distribution and a specific facade shade.
The service station is remodeled to protect the new neighborhood from nuisance.
The project establishes fluid and natural relations with the Palettes neighborhood which is developing on its northwest flank as well as with the subway passage associated with the Carouge-Bachet station.
On the south-eastern flank, a strong visual relationship is established with the CEVA station and its multimodal pole, supported by new direct functional links: sub-track and surface tracking.
