The “Les Pâles” school building was built the 70’ by architects Musy & Valloton based on the modular “CROCS” system. The organic composition of the program allows its integration in the surrounding residential and wine-growing context of Lavaux. PONT12 wanted to highlight the qualities of this privileged location: The entrance of the school complex has been cleared and given a new cafeteria, the extension, more modest, completes the administrative offices next to the courtyard.
By maintaining the full/empty ratio of the existing building, the main intervention was limited to the interior spaces. A wooden cladding covers the solid sections of the envelope. The poetic expression of the façade is underlined by coloring the sides of the pine slats, while leaving the front faces natural. In this way, depending on the orientation and position of the observer, the façade varies from green to blue, the predominant colours on site.
