Apartment of a Transfer Student
San Girolamo was born in Istria and died in Bethlehem, Palestine.
He remains one of the most representative actors of the entire western art history.
In the plot of his paintings it is not possible to exclude the small and unusual objects, surrounding the saint, provided with a certain iconic dimension.
May have Rogers interpreted them as environmental preexistences? More than all, who knows how many of these were actually done by Girolamo himself. Did he borrow them? Did he collect them? Did he pick them up during his long walks at the border of the city, one step away from the mystery of the desert? Was he jealous of them?
In this house, thought for a transfer student, we started from some elements that we found during the demolitions. HVAC pipes, naked joists, modest wrought iron grates. This is how the house took place, this is how we proceed in the design of a mindful architecture.
