Christ Church
Mijares Bracho’s Christ Church is an anglican church situated in the borough of Lomas de Chapultepec in Mexico City and constructed between 1988 and 1990.
The building has an ambiguous character, it is at the same time secretive and imposing. It is probably the most impressive brick building in the Mexican capital.
The construction surprises with an unusual geometry - from far away it seems to stretch towards the sky, getting closer the cubature appears more squat.
The floor plan is developed on the base of a square, with the main axis on a diagonal, placing the altar in a corner.
In the Christ Church, light plays a central role. Despite its massive construction, the space appears light and transparent. The simple material compliments the sober setting of the protestant church.
