WANDERING UNIVERSITY [L'Università Errante]
“I was lucky not to go to school but to travel with my backpack. I’ve been traveling from twenty to twenty-two, to Balkans, Greece, Turkey and Asia Minor.
I’ve been traveling for seven months using all kind of transportation, looking for architecture. I saw temples, farms, houses, buildings and some small ones made of stone. All of them let me understanding the evolution of the spontaneous structures. The architecture’s meaning comes out from them.”
[Le Corbusier, translated from “L’Art décoratif d’aujourd’hui”, Editions G. Crès, Paris 1925]
The idea is rather simple: transforming Teatro del Mondo in a Worldwide machine. The slow speed is perfect to enjoy the trip, study and experience the beauty of a global journey.
We choose the “Zeppelin airship”, a huge, slow and movable element, as the strategic symbol of the idea of the unstoppable spreading of culture. It is the right way to move on from the static approach of the italian university nowadays to something new.
Poveglia and its isolation.
An island has an edge, which phisically means a wall, a wall that splits life, nature, architecture.
The water is a wall too...
We must go beyond that wall: life is outside, as well as culture!
Traveling is the only way to have a DREAM!
