FARM STREET CHURCH PRESBYTERY
A Grade II Listed Victorian Presbytery and Vestry situated in Mount Street currently used by church community groups, containing some superb rooms. The most prominent room, the double height Parish Hall, is a multi-functional space, hosting lectures, screenings, events and clubs, whilst smaller meeting rooms also served as educational spaces. Years of haphazard repairs and alternations had left them somehow tired and neglected. Listed Building Consent was achieved for a full restoration, with a brief to refresh the interiors and improve the community’s experience.
Works to the original historic fabric included careful renovation of the original timber panelling, replacement of modern panel radiators with a more suitable cast iron Victorian design. Plasterwork and flooring were refurbished, and a more refined and sympathetic colour scheme introduced. To improve acoustic and thermal performance of the impressive original stained glass windows, discrete secondary glazing was installed. Room ambience was further improved by large, wall mounted sound absorbing panels. Other works included installation of new AV, large bespoke joinery items, FF&E, lighting and window dressing.
