This is M.E.R.A. home.
This ground floor house in Oleiros proposes a system to eliminate the corridors, specifically the M.E.R.A. (Absurd Tours Elimination Multisystem). To achieve this goal, a scheme of squares and golden proportions is developed, which concatenate spaces diagonally. These spaces distribute the rooms and form in themselves other usable living spaces. Each of them has a top skylight. There are three of them, the entrance, the distributor of the secondary rooms, and the one taking part of the main bedroom.
The fringes are identified on the outside, both on the deck, generating the sawtooth that cuts the sky and, somehow, tells the Galician meteorological gods that it is prepared for what it come, as in the boulders of the Facade, which have other uses such as the clothesline or the side patios.
The road and pedestrian access are divided. The garage welcomes us for an easy car access. On one side, the portico marks the path which will take us to the pedestrian access, halfway up the plot.
The house is divided in two sections from the main entrance, the private part or the rooms, and the public area, with the kitchen, the living room and the dining room. This space between the living room and the dining room, visually connected but out of date to have independence is presided over by the large fireplace, visible from both spaces. We have views and direct access to the porch from them.
Inside, just look for the empty box in every room, just look for background, just look for peace, just look for corners, just look for "mere" architecture.
