Rooms for a Discontinuous Roman Villa
Proposal for a Roman villa developed for the exhibition Re-constructivist Architecture.
Hadrian's Villa, with its more than 30 buildings and surrounding gardens, can be seen as a discontinuous house, as a city made of rooms where architecture and landscape converge. Likewise, Rooms for a Discontinuous Roman Villa is as an extensive -yet dense- attempt to domesticate urban space by means of a dispersed and wide- spread set of generic rooms. This villa -or somehow antivilla- claims for understanding the house as an open and reconfigurable system where the limit between the urban and the domestic, the public and the private spheres, becomes blurry and potentially redefinable.
