Sala Degli Ori, Museo Poldi Pezzoli, Milan, Italy
The treasure room is designed trying to give every artwork (generally of small dimensions) a strong individuation. This took us to break the exhibition supports in many small surfaces giving all of them two full view sides. All this brought us to think of four faceted and diamondlike showing cases in the four corners of the treasury room. The material on which the jewels are exhibited is translucent plexiglas while the enclosure of the showing cases is assured by full height, origami- like folded security glass. The effect of the four folded glass panels make the visitor loose the real dimensions of the room, referring directly to the small but appalling inner palace chapels of baroque tradition.
