CONVERSION OF A FARMER'S HOUSE
The aim of this deep restoration of an old hayloft on the hillside of Florence, is to enhance the original features together with a new contemporary look. This old premises has been redesigned keeping a single huge space on the ground floor with kitchen, dining and sitting area, and building a new staircase that links together the ground floor, the first floor with bedrooms, wardrobe, bathrooms, and the attic floor. As wished by the client, all the parts of the house are reached by natural light with no obstruction toward the outside. All the works were studied to accomplish the prescriptions of the landscape authority and to improve the seismic behaviour of the whole building: the new structures of the two storeys (one more than the original) and the roof are made of stainless steel and timber in order to be less heavy than the previous one.
