Enoteca dai Tosi Design Contest
The winery we have created, is an attempt to achieve a symbiosis between art, design and wine. The story begins when entering the Enoteca: in an oasis of greenery by the grapevines, because this is literally the beginning of wine, and of our wine story. The perspective in the patio guides us inside, through the terracotta floor, which acts as a guide through the project, like a walk accented by an earthy colour. We literally form the basis: the earth on which we have begun to build and create.
Once inside you are immediately confronted with the sculptural staircase, which we have interwoven with the bar to one item. We have emphasized the connection through the interplay of two materials, i.e. concrete and terrazzo. Materials like these, that create clarity of form and the drawing of the rooms, are countered by soft and warm materials such as velvet and velour. Besides pure aesthetic interests, the materials are also pleasant in terms of acoustics and perception.
We created the railing and lighting into one interesting game of lines, this way they not only have a functional significance but also become interesting in its form. We see it as a branch of the grapevines, making its way into the earthy contours. We see the lighting (festive garlands that occasionally make a comeback in the project) as a contemporary vision of the traditional lighting, appropriate to the ‘festa patronale’ in the South of Italy. The objects made of concrete are like a catalyst that translates the rough walls to a smooth motion, leaving the spaciousness emphasized. The shape is determined by its function, and the function is determined by the user.
The walk through the Enoteca leads us to the end of the property, the end of the process, but is also the highlight of our story: the wine, the pride of the Enoteca. The glass partition provides a glimpse of our wine collection, presented by a ‘wine wall’. This ‘wine wall’ is made up of a flexible building stone, which is repeated as much as necessary.
We see the Enoteca Dai Tosi as a walk through the identity of wine, where art and design are intertwined and become one.
