In search of Utopia
On the occasion of this anniversary, Museum M in Leuven (BE) set
up the speech-making exhibition "In Search of Utopia '. Based on
more than seventy masterpieces this exhibition offers a unique
overview of the art and science of that time.
FELT was selected to create a sober and delicate scenography for
the exhibition.
The scenography aims to reconcile the classical art with the cold white gallery spaces. Large carpets were draped over the floors and walls of the rooms.
Not only do they organize the exhibition in several chapters, but they also bring scale, color and texture to the building. Each room was given a different color, the carpets were delicately paired with the paintings.
Solid-looking, oversized pedestals are placed on the carpets. They are lined with cork with vivid texture and work as islands that combine different objects.
Precious objects and manuscripts are displayed under transparent glass displays. The material palette is completed with terrazzo and brass accents.
