Quai Voltaire
First Acne Studios store on Rive Gauche in Paris.
Situated in a neighborhood where generations of artists have created an inimitable ambience, Acne Studios Quai Voltaire will add something new to the area’s distinctive character.
“Rive Gauche has long been the Paris of the creative, which has a deep meaning for me. It’s a place where so much art and literature has flourished over the years, you can’t help but being absorbed by it simply by walking down the street,” says Jonny Johansson, Acne Studios founder and Creative Director.
“The neighborhood also has a deeper implication within fashion, being the place where people in the streets started combining haute couture with a more practical fashion. It kind of sums up what we always aim for, being sophisticated and functional at the same time. On top of this, the area has some of the best antique dealers in the world, which makes it even more inspiring for me, being a lover of furniture design from all times.”
The Acne Studios stores build on a belief in the artist studio as an open and developing space for creativity. The décor of the new Paris store is dominated by untreated aluminum, giving the individual garments an animated background as it reflects light and colors. The floor is made of a contrasting pink and grey carpet combined with terrazzo.
Acne Studios Quai Voltaire is the third store in Paris, following Acne Studios Palais Royal and Acne Studios Rue Froissart in Marais. Later this year, new Acne Studios flagship stores will open in Osaka and Los Angeles.
