WEAVE
University Island
Massimiliano Cafagna, Tiziano De Venuto
The island of Povegna is strongly marked by the presence of dense vegetation that surrounds the island and covers many of the buildings within the project. The nature therefore still has a significant role in the landscape recognition, it is still distinctive. WEAVE is the identity of an architectural project focused on the texture of a system of functions, through the construction of highly permeable areas and immersed in the island's natural environment. Nature has reclaimed its space enveloping the ancient buildings in its branches, for this reason we choose to identify a design strategy to preserve nature. The city of Venice is built on millions of trunks of trees hidden in subterranean clay banks; countless living trees on the island of Povegna ideally represent the foundations on which to build the project, choosing to do so to preserve the landscape so strongly structured. Among the trees we build the texture of the pillars, drawing a "forest of foundation" on which to build the architecture. It moves through a forest of columns covered by the thick foliage of the trees and the roofs of buildings, in a continuous space.
