House on Mt Yataka
This house is located on the top of a small mountain, 300 meters above the sea level and far away from the downtown.
This house was designed for a stone-sculptor who lives alone and works in the annex atelier.
The main concept is the creation of one single open space that has different characters of space.
Following the gently slope of the site I divided one single room in four different levels in a linear way.
Spandrel walls and the use of two straights roof slabs create a different enclosure feeling.
Spandrel walls guarantee to the client a continuous and different perception of this landscape and ensure a constant level of privacy.
Concrete was chosen as an optimal material that can be opposed to the natural severity.
In minimum expression by the use of concrete I tried to pull out the bivalent character of space – openness and enclosure.
