Renovation Bernoulli House
Renovation of a historical listed one family house
This house was originally built in 1927 by the architect Hans Bernoulli. The initial idea of the housing development was to built affordable houses for the working class. Today the whole housing development is listed and it is a preferred residential location as it is in the city center of Zurich. In addition to the renewal of the technical installations, the static exercise was a big part of the rebuild. The house has already been refurbished several times. One of the tasks was to revive the original materials to the initial state. It was important for us that the difference between new and old is clearly de ned. In the kitchen and in the dining area we chose an anhydrite oor, which is only separated by a fine joint to the original herringbone parquet. OSB wood panels were used for various claddings and for the kitchen back wall. The atypical choice of rather industrial materials is a striking contrast to the original state and characterized the house in its new expression.
