Chapultepec Terrace
A series of light wooden stringers are woven together to create a structure which frames views of the sky and city.
The structure holds up light metallic roofing panels to provide some shade to the roof garden. In contrast, three solid terrazzo volumes hold the program; a bench, a counter, and a sunbathing surface.
The volumes are connected by brass sill details, embedded in the blue tinted floor.
The brass detailing converses with the wooden weaving above.
The scale of the project allowed for special attention to designing joining details as well as anchoring. It also permitted an exploration into contrasting and new materials to us, for example the terrazzo, which contains crushed blue glass in the mixture.
