ABEEL House
Young Belgian architect Mias Sys designed this house on a narrow plot in an upcoming neighbourhood in Ghent, Belgium. This compact family house is conceived as a stack of three angular glass volumes, sitting on top of a solid base. Every floor is carefully shaped with shifting angles to provide particular sights of the street and the city. Custom made sliding panels without visible frameworks, maximize transparancy and enhance the unique christal-like appearance of the building.
One continuous staircase sweeps along the contours of the house, connecting the different floors. The pinnacle of the 'promenade architectural' is a sunny roof terrace, with spectacular views on the historical skyline of the city.
The interiors are finished with warm materials as wood and copper, contrasting the white walls and glass facade.
With the Abeel House, Miass introduces a typology in the city centre which provides a luxurious and spacious lifestyle, yet minimizes its footprint in the city.
