Valpolicella
This proposal for a winery in Valpolicella is an exhestension of an exhisting building formed by different elements developed between the 70’s and the 90’s.
The strategy try to solve these differences connecting them with two main void spaces.
A main double high courtyard is made for differents public events (public markets, art exhibitions, wine fairs) in order to give a point of connection between winery and the city.
A second space is the dryer, a particular room made for the production of the main wine of the area, Amarone. This room is designed with a movable roof, which it gives the possibility to use this space for three months as a dryer and for the rest of the year as a space for open air theatre open to the landscape.
Chosen materials are simple and cheap: white ceramic tiles for the interiors and a terrazzo mades of waste red marble pieces, recycled from the local production of Verona, is used for the external facades.
The ventilation system of dryer room characterizes the main facade with three big propeller. These three big holes are the main feature of the building, elements which are visible from the landscape, elements which are giving a strong and recognizible shape.
