22 Avenue Matignon, Paris, 1972-76
An office building, near the Rond Point des Champs Elysés, designed for the J.W-Thompson, an international advertising company. The free and creative layout of the interior space, that was requested from this destination, has been altered and later on redesigned by another architect. The circular meeting rooms, detached from the facade skin, were particularly replaced with a large circular staircase. The original facade has been preserved.
Its insertion in an historical site has not been easy. Instead of the uniformity that was requested, the facade has become a kind of dramatic play in which the past and our difficult present are in a crucial relationship, which nevertheless leads to a new harmony.
